Blood From a Stone

Inspired by the song “Desperate Hearts” by the fictitious band “Steel Dragon” from the movie Rock Star. The song was rerecorded by Jeff Pilson’s band “War and Peace” as Pilson was a cast member in the film. This poem is dedicated to all the “Desperate Hearts as they hide, running away in need. They’re too lost to find that broken hearts will bleed.”

Hollow words,

Empty promises,

Turn my heart to stone,

You quit,

Turned your back,

Leaving me all alone,

Toss the key,

Pull the plug,

Throwing away what we worked for,

Actions show,

What beauty holds,

Our love had room to grow,

Can you squeeze blood from a stone?

Answer to be given in due time,

As my heart bleeds silently alone.
