Fool’s Gold

Fool's Gold

Tired and weary,

Broken and bent,

I can’t see clearly,

Cause my emotions are spent,

I try and I try,

But always left wondering why,

The cheaters and liars,

Always finish higher,

I won’t quit,

I won’t groan,

But need to find the way,

To my own personal throne,

Instead of the aimless search

For the pot gold,

At the rainbow’s end,

Discovering it to be pretend,

That I was fooled by the night,

And found only pyrite.
