In Ruins

I often wonder what was more foolish – we built something on cracked joists and broken beams with expectation of strength or created a façade of beauty to hide away the ugliness inside.

Only specters remain of what would have been. A forgotten time – a forgotten place built on the promise of potential. Cracks in the foundation only wilt under pressure and strain – imploding on one’s self. We laid waste to our hopes and dreams only to reveal the decay and untold truth inside.

Desolate reminders that everything has its time and its place and nothing lasts forever, only snap shots of memories captured in time.

With Child

holding-hands1

Destructive mind,

Attempts to leave it all behind,

What’s it going to take this time?

Seeking placebo effect,

Endless moot trek,

No drug to satisfy this appetite.

Days slip into night,

Seek to find what was never right,

Rainbows don’t end in pots of gold.

Living rich but feeling poor,

Heart closed just like every door,

Mirrors reflect untold lies.

Now with child in hand,

Will the cycle begin once again?

Only time will tell….

Played that game in my life,

A child’s love marred in strife,

Tears fill my eyes.

Life Through Dad’s Eyes

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend has been good so far!

A friend of mine that I grew up with has recently started a new blog entitled “Life From Dad’s Eyes.” Ryan McDonald is a father of two and recently started to blog about his journey through parenthood exploring both the rewards and challenges and the role it has played in his life.

Ryan is a great guy! I have known him him for over 20 years and grew up with his wife Laura as well! Ryan has a very witty sense of humor and his humorous perspective of life’s daily events always kept us amused growing up! He has been able to translate that into his writing.

He is just getting started in his journey but his writing already provides an insightful, genuine look into the important role that his family and fatherhood plays in his life.

I’d definitely encourage you to check out “Life From Dad’s Eyes” and interact with him as he sets forth on his writing journey!
